1. Preparation:
- Starts with quick consultation whether person can have Shirodhara or not . Any history of injuries , scars on head etc detail history needs to take before therapy.
- Selection of liquid as per person. Set up a comfortable and peaceful environment for the treatment.
2. Positioning:
- The recipient lie down on their back with their head comfortably supported by the table or cushion. Their neck should be slightly extended to allow the oil to flow smoothly.
3. Oil Selection/liquid selection/herbs selection/temperature of liquid
- Our practioner will choose an appropriate oil/liquid/ temp for Shirodhara based on the recipient’s dosha (Vata, Pitta, or Kapha) and any specific health concerns.
4. Procedure:
- By filling the Shirodhara pot with the warmed oil / herbs infused liquid, leaving enough space at the top to allow for the flow of oil /herbs.
- Position of the pot above the recipient’s forehead at a height of about 6-8 inches (15-20 cm). .
5. Initiating the Flow:
- Begin pouring the warm oil/herbs infused liquid in a continuous and rhythmic stream onto the center of the recipient’s forehead, just above the eyebrows.
- Maintain a steady flow of oil throughout the treatment, adjusting the speed and pressure as needed to ensure a comfortable experience for the recipient.
6. Duration:
- The duration of Shirodhara can vary depending on individual preferences and therapeutic goals allowing ample time for relaxation and absorption of the oil’s benefits.
7. Closing the Treatment:
- After the desired duration, gradually reduce the flow of oil and bringing the treatment to a gentle conclusion.
- End up with gentle head massage .
- Recipient can rest for a few minutes before slowly sitting up.
8. Post-Treatment Care:
- After Shirodhara, encouraging the recipient to rest and relax for some time to fully absorb the benefits of the treatment.
- Provide gentle cleansing of the oil from the forehead and hair, if desired, using a warm, damp cloth or towel.
